We are committed to the minimal use of plastic hence use zero plastic containers for our organic soaps, shampoo and moisturisers. From garbage segregation to recycling of almost all waste, our eco-friendly retreat embodies a harmonious blend of nature, culture, and mindful living. Being the largest solar powered property in Ladakh, Lchang Nang discovers the transformative power of sustainable development in one of the world’s most breathtaking destinations. Powered by a 20 kW solar energy system, we utilise solar energy for all water heating needs and for solar lamps for landscape lighting where needed. We are well-equipped with solar panels and a battery bank that generates 95% of our energy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rooted in principles of environmental stewardship and community empowerment, our retreat is built by sourcing local construction materials such as willow, stone, poplar and mud that mirror the rhythm of nature and make them a practical and sustainable work of architecture. By conserving water, we not only safeguard the environment but also mitigate the risk of water scarcity and ensure equitable access to this fundamental resource for all. From channelizing the melting glacier water to irrigating 20 acres of our property, our sustainable haven serves as a model for responsible tourism in Ladakh. Operating on the principle of environmental consciousness, we have adopted gravity-fed water systems to eliminate reliance on water pumping. Moreover, our drinking water is fresh mineral rich glacial water which is good in PH value.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Community Engagement and Empowerment:<\/b><\/p>\n

Lchang Nang Retreat<\/a><\/strong> actively engages with local communities, empowering them through local culture integration, indigenous craftsmanship and rehabilitation of lost traditions. We support local artisans by promoting their paintings and organising exhibitions. Also, we provide local culinary experiences through our menu and curated activities. We have our own inhouse range of products which are made by locals from locally found ingredients thus encouraging local economy and talent. We promote buying local vegetables and growing our own herbs organically.<\/span><\/p>\n
